Is Your Business for Sale? Why you should never lower your price.

Are you offering sales prices or deep discounts to get customers through your door? “Mark it down and they will come…” Right? Well, maybe. You will ALWAYS get that customer who is looking for the best deal or the cheapest price. You need to ask yourself, what type of customer am I looking for? The one who is only looking for a sale or a customer who sees the value in your products.

Typically the sales flyer shopper isn’t the customer who you are building a relationship with. They aren’t repeat customers. If you get too “mark down happy” and are consistently offering the SALE OF THE YEAR, you may actually start to hurt your reputation… as well as your bottom line. Your product is only as valuable as what you make it. And if you drop your price, you may not be in the position to bring it back up.

I’m not saying you should never have a sale, discount seasonal items, or offer your valuable clients a VIP discount. Just use them sparingly. Build your clientele based on quality of your products or services. Instead of discounting, offer MORE value! Set yourself apart from your competition. Giving your customers more value for their dollar rather than cheapening your products and services positions you in a place of prominence. Not only does it show you care about your clients and their needs, but also keeps them coming back. Take a step back and look at what your time is worth. What about your products? Can your business afford to be the cheapest on the block. Don’t give away your time and services just to close a sale. Your clients – those you want to build a relationship with – will appreciate the quality of what you are providing rather than pinching a few pennies. Check out our blog Does Price Really Matter

Don’t sell yourself short. Once you discount your products or services they are never worth what they’re supposed to be after you start discounting. Wow your clients, keep them asking for more, rather than asking for their business!!
