Facebook changes your business needs to know

By NOW Marketing Group
Facebook-changes

Facebook has been rolling out some major changes in the last few months. So, what's new with the Social Media Giant?

New features has changed the way Facebook for business works, and you need to stay apprised of what’s happening in the social media world. Here are some of Facebook’s latest updates.

Algorithms

Last August Facebook announced a new algorithm that essentially confirmed that the social media platform is now pay-to-play for businesses. Facebook is listening to their main audience and giving them what they want. People want information from their friends, family, and newsfeed, and don’t want so much from brands, which means there is a little bit of a challenge there for businesses. It’s no longer an option; you have to have an ad budget for Facebook. Put it behind the content you want to convert. While there are still some ways you can grow organically, you’ll need to use ads to get people where you want them, for example more traffic to your website.

Live streams

Both video and live streams will be a major game changer. People want to see videos in their newsfeed and because of that Facebook has weighted video incredibly high. This means it is a must for businesses to get seen. But live streaming isn’t going to just stop there. Soon they’ll add the ability for two-person streams and waiting rooms. You can also check out who all is going live with Facebook’s Live Map.

Save for later

Facebook added the ability to save links, movies, places, music, and more can now be saved in the drop-down options so you can read or watch whatever you save later. And now, there is an option to save to Chrome using a chrome extension.

Facebook Notes and Slideshow

While Facebook Notes isn’t the newest change, it has recently been updated to make your Notes look much more like blogs. Repurposing blog content into a Facebook Note can be a great way to make sure you’re getting the reach you deserve. Sometimes links don’t get as much traffic as you would like, while a note on Facebook makes it more appealing to people.

Slideshow is another way to use videos to get more views, but instead of having to shoot an actual video, it let’s you create a video out of your Facebook photos and videos. Slideshows are automatically composed for you, and you can add music and themes to them. Everything is created from your stored media.

Featured Events

It’s no surprise that millions of people use Facebook Events. Now, starting in the top 10 U.S. cities, Facebook will have a featured events. Events will showcase each city’s top art, entertainment, family, festival, fitness, food & drink, learning, community, music and sports events and select a few with the capacity to accept some extra foot traffic. The point is to let everyone know what will be happening in their city so they can become more engaged within the community. While it’s starting out small, eventually featured events may roll out to other cities, providing it works well and people are interested in the feature.

Stay vigilant - more changes are coming

Certainly, updates and changes are not going to stop now. Facebook, as the largest social media network, will continue to add and change features based on what people want to do and see. As business owners, we will need to stay up to date with the new features Facebook has to ensure we are staying relevant, adding value, and being seen by our customers.
