Have you ever heard the saying, “Teamwork makes the dream work?” It’s true. When you work alongside others you bring in a new audience, new ideas, and new opinions. In all honesty, collaboration is the best way to get the most out of your social media marketing. Believe it or not, social media is about being social and to get the most out of your efforts you should be working with others. Marketing is no longer about working alone. Instead, you must build relationships with others who have the same goals and mission as you.

Four reasons why you should be collaborating with your social media:

  1. Collaboration shows that you want others to be a part of your story.
  2. Collaboration shows that you value others opinion, creativity, and provides new thought leadership.
  3. Collaboration pieces get more engagement.
  4. Collaboration pieces get your name out there.

Collaboration shows that you want others to be a part of your story.

Do you want more fans, friends, or supporters in general for your business? Invite them to help tell your story! If you are in need of more brand advocates or just fans of your mission, inviting them on your journey to collaborate on projects or marketing materials is the best way to keep them engaged and spreading your message.

Collaboration shows that you value others opinion, creativity, and provides new thought leadership.

The truth is, you don’t know it all. Collaborating with other brilliant minds from various companies, industries, and walks of life is a great way to gain a new perspective. Not only will you benefit but your audience will take note that you are only trying to provide them the best information. Bringing brilliant minds to your team or project will ensure that you get the best result possible. Who knows, it may even bring in new business!

Collaboration pieces get more engagement.

When friends, colleagues, and businesses take part in your content, mission, or just share a love for what you are doing, they are more likely to stay engaged. What is better than creating more brand advocates and word-of-mouth referrals? Nothing. The more input and collaboration pieces you put out, the more backing you are going to have from your community, colleagues, and other potential business partners.

Collaboration pieces get your name out there.

Want to create more brand awareness, reach new audiences, and places? Start collaborating! Building relationships with other familiar faces and businesses is a great way to build the know, like, and trust that will help get your foot in the door when it's time. Start seeking out thought leaders, business professionals, and other like-minded individuals to collaborate with. The list of possible collaboration possibilities is endless, including video, live streams, blogging, and events.

Examples of how you can collaborate.

  • Do you have businesses that you work with on a daily or weekly basis? Create a social media contest together that you can share across all your platforms to reach new audiences!
  • Doing a charity or corporate event? Get your sponsors or local businesses involved by having them share your content promoting the event.
  • Create a whitepaper or download with a thought or industry leader to build the know, like, and trust with others.

Start collaborating with those in your circle, even if it’s just your colleagues. Before long your circle will expand as well as your opportunities. Collaborating will bring on new opportunities, new friends, and new audiences along the way, so get started today!
