How to Grow Your Business Company Culture

How do you grow your business or Company Culture? What’s that?

Sighhhh... It’s Monday morning, time to start the long trek to Friday. Is this how you think about beginning your work week, or worse, how your employees think of beginning their work week? How awesome would the Monday morning energy be if your employees were excited to get their week started! It’s not as farfetched as it sounds; many companies are actually achieving this.

The place to begin is with your company culture. What does that mean? Your company culture is the personality of your business. It extends through your employees and into the business you are selling. Companies may struggle for a long time before they decide exactly what they want their culture be, but it is never too late to redefine yourself.

Take a peek at Google. One of their main goals is “to create the happiest, most productive workplace in the world.” Not exactly top of mind when you think about work huh? But why not make work a place where your employees love coming. Employee retention is critical to keep costs down. And employee retention is gained by keeping your employees happy. Happy employees lead to productive employees.

Google’s success can be attributed to their company culture. Just looking at this video makes us believe it’s an adult playground, not an office. Sure, we can’t all have slides, free food, daily ping pong matches and free haircuts, but there are pieces of their culture that you can apply to your own business.

Another company that is expanding their company culture is Hubspot.

Hubspot operates on transparency, meaning that all employees see the same information as top managers do. Cash balance, potential customers, even teams struggling within the company. Having this sort of information sharing makes employees feel just as important as the CEO. It also gives everyone the opportunity to share their opinions and ideas on how to fix any potential problem. All employees are involved in the decision process, making them feel like leaders and resulting in a high moral.

Hubspot Culture

The 9-5 workday is beginning to become antiquated. Life happens, and sometimes we just can’t be 100% present at work. The “old” office structure with its cubicles, set lunch and break times and limited employee freedom equals bored, unimaginative employees and low productivity. Take down the cubicles and employees become a team, not just a group of individuals. Team players encourage one another and communicate to achieve the common goal.

The work we do can become stressful enough; why not make the workplace a happy, fun environment where long-term employee relationships are fostered to create a sustainable productivity.

Create bonding

Ask employes how to do something/ change something

If your staff believes their opinion matter

The 9-5 workday is becoming antiquated. When employes can make their own hours, productivity soars

If you are a business owner, take a minute to reflect upon your company’s culture. What is it relaying to your employees?
