Pinterest is the one of the hottest, fastest growing social platforms to hit the social media realm since… well – EVER! According to Business Insider – *Pinterest passed 10 Million users in just 9 months. The fastest EVER for a standalone site. You may be saying to yourself, that’s great, but I’m not a crafter, baker or planning an extravagant children’s birthday party. I own a business and how does Pinterest help me to reach new clients. How do I get people to “Pin” me?!

Pinterest is based on consumerism. What people like, are shopping for and bringing into their homes and businesses. Did you know 80% of the top 15 Pinterest categories are connected to some form of commerce. Why shouldn’t YOUR business be a part of that 80%?

  • 80% of Pinterest users are women, between the ages of 25-50 – however men are starting to take interest and are moving in on the Pinterest market
  • Pinterest is the 4th largest traffic organic traffic driver – WORLDWIDE
  • Pinterest is integrated with both Facebook and Twitter – share what you pin with followers, friends and fans
  • It’s gone mobile – you can pin on the go from any smart phone, just download the app and start uploading pin

  • Be Visual – pictures can speak a thousand words. Create Boards where you are showing off your skills, this can be anything from handcrafted jewelry to a renovated kitchen. Share your successes and don’t be afraid to toot your own horn.
  • Successful Brands Don’t Sell… They TELL – Your Pinterest page should tell people your story, how you’re different, why they need YOUR business to solve their problems and how you can help.
  • Board Ideas
    • Blog posts—You can add an image. Brief description of your blog and link it to the article
    • About your business or community boards to talk about your community. This will greatly help your local SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
    • Behind the Scenes
    • Videos- Create boards and link to your videos that highlight helpful information or tell the story about your business.
    • How-tos or informational photo boards
    • Recommended products and links to sites where they can be found/purchased
    • Inspiring quotes
    • FREE Tools – Yep, I said FREE
      • PicMonkey – create free photo collages
      • Infogr.am – Create free infographics
      • Photo-editors – Use Instagram
      • Don’t Spend Your Whole Day Pinning – pin either in the morning or evening, Saturday mornings are a great time too.
