Twitter Releases Curator

In what seems to be no surprise to me, Twitter is back in the headlines with another amazing release.  Twitter announced this morning it will be releasing its latest product for media organizations, publishers, and broadcasters. Curator will help those organizations identify, filter and display tweets and Vine videos on any screen in real-time... this also includes Periscope, Twitter's recent live-stream app investment.

Many know me here in the office as an analytics nut! Well, Twitter is doing something that I believe will start a new standard for "Real Time" data.  When Twitter is used for live events like March Madness, The Super Bowl, or any large conference, the data is coming in quicker than most blink their eyes. As a marketer or even a production manager, you can't be waiting 5 minutes for data to catch up.  We need that data as it comes in, so it can be used in production.

While there are a number of third-party analytics companies on the market today allowing Twitter users to derive insights from tweets, Twitter says Curator is not really focused on that market. Instead, explains Curator GM Mark Ghuneim, the service is designed to surface the content in real-time, not provide analysis after the fact. He also describes it as more of a “baseline” product, which third-parties can extend by offering things like design customization or support on top of Twitter’s free service.

I am super excited about this product release, and I have to be honest, Twitter is looking really appealing right now, and have been on a role for what seems to be the last 6 months!  Make sure you subscribe and get notified on all the latest platform changes that come out!
