If you have seen your social stream being overtaken by all the four squared photo ops with people chatting with headsets, it’s because of a new social network to launch called Blab. Blab has redefined hangouts and is changing the future of social media and networking as a whole. Blab allows you to live stream conversations with three of your peers at any given time to discuss topics of your choice while the world watches. It allows you to be transparent and shows thought leadership.
As we mentioned in one of our earlier sessions of #MagnetMarketers what to look forward to in social media 2015- The prediction was video of the future. It turns out it wasn't that far away. It's here and now.
How are people using blab for marketing? Blab users are using it to concentrate on specific marketing topics, but also have the ability to change the topic while in a Blab session. Blab also has potential to use within customer service. You can also use Blab to connect with brand loyalists and those who can help you spread your message. Once you are watching or holding a blab, you can “tell the little bird” which lets you tweet about the blab and the topic of the blab!
How to join in on the conversation? You can join any blab conversations at https://blab.im/. It would also be wise to download the blab app on to your phone. Bad news though for Android users, there is no phone app for you YET?
The next thing you’ll want to do it connect your twitter account to blab. This is how you tell others about a blab you are watching, comment with a blab, and join a blab conversation. How to jump in and learn? The easiest way to get involved in the blab community is to either subscribe to a blab and listen in first….then join in on the blab-bing. There is even a group topic called Blb testing and first time blab to get your feet wet. The best part is that blab really is a laid back, be yourself and roll with it app…. so you can create your own blab and very quickly others will join in with you.
You can search up blabs by topic or keywords such as business, social media, etc…. Another way to stay involved is to create a twitter list of blab users and follow them on Twitter.
Blab is continuing the live video trend that we have all witnessed thus far in 2015. While it is still early for Blab, it is certainly making a lot of noise, and it doesn’t appear to be going anywhere. It will be fun watching the young app adapt as more and more people jump into it!
