When it comes to producing raving fans and creating long-term success in your business, our biggest and best advice is to dance to the beat of your own drummer.
It’s about understanding who you are and letting that completely shine through. Becoming an unapologetic entrepreneur.
What does that mean and how do you do that?
We broke it all down during our first Magnet Marketers episode of 2021 featuring special guest Bri Seeley.
Becoming An Unapologetic Entrepreneur:
If there’s anything that 2020 taught us, it’s that we have to show up as our real, authentic, selves.
In 2020, the lines of personal and business blended. We started having meetings from our living rooms and things got a lot more intimate. (And we have loved every minute of that, because it makes for closer relationships!)
What we started to realize was that our superpower is the fact that nobody is us.
Becoming an unapologetic entrepreneur is all about understanding who we are and really allowing ourselves to own it so that it can shine through.
If we want people to gravitate towards us, we have to speak up and say what we stand for.

In a world filled with samesies, where there are literally hundreds of Instagram feeds that look exactly the same, we have to ask ourselves: what value do we add? It’s like, why would someone follow 100 of the same account when they could just follow one?
We want to be that one. In order to do that, we have to be polarizing in our business.
It’s all about letting your REAL self shine through! And that means coming to terms with who you really are.
It doesn’t matter if you love or hate cats or if you swear… THAT doesn’t bother us. What bothers us is feeling a lack of authenticity.
What matters is that you show up as your real self.
The person that we see online should be the person that we meet (when we can finally meet,) in real life.
Starting From The Inside Out:
In order to show up as our full selves, we have to really KNOW who we are.
That’s why we always start with the brand manifesto. It’s why Bri’s first exercise with clients is an analysis of core values.
“You have to turn inward before you can move forward.” @briseeley (click to tweet)
You need to know who you are, what drives you and what gets you up in the morning. You need to know what really lights you up and what you’re really here to do. Those are key foundational aspects.
It’s impossible to operate a business if it is out of integrity with who you inherently are.
When we know who we are, we can show up in ways that are aligned with our mission and values.
One element of your personality? >> Your communication style!
It's why Jessika loves audio messages; they're a great way to add a personal touch to our interactions and infuse our energy into our communications!
Not only does Bri love audio messages, but she shared about how she makes it a practice to personalize her messages on Instagram by sending voice messages through the app! (We recommend following her, by the way. Tell her that you watched her on Magnet Marketers, and be prepared for a voice DM back!)
It’s less about the exact method of communication and more about figuring out what YOUR personal style is!
How do YOU prefer to connect with people? >> If video isn’t your thing, don’t do it. It could be a hand-written note! Whatever fits your personality best and shows that you care.
It comes down to knowing yourself and knowing your customer.
Ask yourself: what will matter to them? Because when people, OR brands, show up and CARE, it’s memorable.
When we take the time to personalize messages and show our genuine interest in creating lasting connections, people pause and take note.
Being Human Matters:
Adopting a relationship marketing mindset, and showing up as a human being, isn’t quick but it’s effective in creating lasting connections. Not just with each other but with ourselves.
It’s about breaking out of the things that we are told about ourselves, and starting to shed the projections that others have put on us. When we shed those layers and dive into who we are, we’re able to bring that human side of ourselves forward.
In 2020, we saw that corporate business became insanely personal overnight.
Bri reminded us that when COVID hit, the separation between business and personal went out the window.
The brands that were HUMAN throughout the pandemic, and focused on customer delight… the brands that made us feel cared about… those are the brands to which we became loyal.
Shifting Our Mindset:
When it comes down to it, this is all a matter of mindset.
It starts at the CORE: being unapologetically yourself. THAT is what will drive the right people to you!
The reality is that when it comes to building a business, your first customers are going to be people that you already know. Your relationships are going to be what grow your business.
It’s not quick, and it’s not easy, but this is what works.
“It’s not sexy and it’s not funnels and advertising, but this is what works. If you want a business that is going to stand the test of time, you have got to be good on your relationship game. Otherwise, you are screwed.” @briseeley (click to tweet)
We couldn’t agree more, which is why we highly encourage you to get your hands on Bri’s free book, Permission To Leap.
