By now I’m sure you’ve noticed a few Facebook Live videos in your newsfeed, but are you taking advantage of this great feature? If not, I’m here to explain why your business needs to start using Facebook Live right away!

Video has become the #1 way to tell your brand's story over the last year and with Facebook Live, you can easily share with the world a behind-the-scenes glimpse at your business. Facebook Live is a native video that you can access via the Facebook Pages application. Using Facebook Live compared to the normal YouTube video gives you an advantage over all other video.

Here are a few tips and strategies to help you launch a successful Facebook Live broadcast:

Promote your broadcast and promote it across all channels.

Do you want to have an audience when it’s time to go live? Promote, promote, promote across all of your social channels. Create a branded image that includes the time and topic of your broadcast so that users can make plans to attend. Also, making a reminder post just a few minutes before going live will also help catch a group of people who may have missed your original post.

Make your video long enough so that you have time to gain an audience.

Facebook now recommends that you stay live for at least 10 minutes in order to gain and capture your audience. Facebook will send out a notification to all of your followers that you are now broadcasting live, but that doesn’t mean they are able to watch your broadcast at that moment. Planning a good and exciting 10 minute broadcast will help keep your audience tuned in and engaged with you. Have no fear if your audience misses out on your live broadcast; the video will stay embedded on your Facebook page and can be viewed anytime.

Engage with your audience.

Have a team member or two on deck to help you engage with your audience during your broadcast. Whether they are passing on questions that need to be answered live or responding to questions directly during the broadcast, you can’t do it alone. In order to maximize success, immediate response is the key to keep your audience engaged and active on your page long after the broadcast is over.

Be consistent and creative.

The number one way to increase your viewers on Facebook Live is to be consistent and creative! Planning your content is key no matter the medium; if you are free every other Thursday at 10am, plan your broadcast for that time slot. Having random time slots scattered throughout the month will not bring any consistency to your content nor will your audience really know when you are going to be live next. Always, always, always, have a content strategy and you will see your impressions and message continue to soar.

Don’t forget… Facebook Live is also available for groups & events.

Now that Facebook Live is available for groups and events you can share specific content that those in a specific group or event care to see. Do you have a Facebook group specifically dedicated to family? Share a live video of a high school graduation or your child’s first steps. Do you have a Facebook event set for a conference or grand opening event? Give your potential attendees a VIP look at what is going on behind-the-scenes so they know what to expect upon arrival.

Remember, staying up-to-date and taking advantage of all the features that Facebook has to offer will help keep your business or brand ahead of the curve. With so much content available on Facebook, using Facebook Live to spread your content message will help you break through all of the noise.
