It takes a little creativity to get found online. But there are some simple things you can incorporate into your marketing plan to make sure people know who you are and that you care for your followers. Mike Gingerich, Ravi Shukle and Jessika Philips dive into ideas to really stand out online in the session for relationships and ROI.
Here are some tips on how to get noticed and show you care:
Collaborate
This means teaming up with people in your industry.Maybe try co-authoring blogs on influential sites. You can add your value by getting exposed to other people’s audience, but do not spam them or say “go follow me.” You do not have to be an expert as long as you bring ideas to the table.
Provide Valuable Resources
Don’t be scared to put yourself out there. If you don’t try, you won’t know if something will work or not. Do a webinar, either solo or with a partner. Or host a workshop or a seminar. Be yourself, and be ready to engage with others.
Creative branding
Create branding for yourself by using your own hashtags and using your own style. Use Canva to create images that you can reuse again and again. Use your own images or find uncommon images to say who you are. Give people a good vibe about who you are and what you are about.
Create content, shares and/or images in your own voice by being conversational and adding in your personal branding i.e., photo, logos, colors, fonts, etc. Brand your own unique saying or hashtag that reminds people of you. Include others. Tag other people and tell a story that they can relate to.
Use Videos to get noticed
Use videos to your advantage by doing a quick tip a day with a video, or show what you know, use it as a way to get your knowledge out there. Make sure what you are putting out there is worthy of sharing and has value. Use video introductions instead of just posting the link, or use real time to your advantage to create videos.
- Twitter - In the mobile app makes it easy for you to do a quick video for an @ reply. Such as thanks for the retweet or becoming personal with it. Better than just a text reply, be personal with others to show you care about them.
- BombBomb - Which is a way of sending video emails to create a human connection and not having it as an automated message.
- Facebook Live - Businesses can now use Facebook to broadcast live to their audience.
- SnapChat - You have 10 seconds to create a video, and you can add it to your story. You can also download and save it to be repurposed. Using Snapchat video you have to do it directly from the app, you cannot add a video into the app.
- Instagram Video - 15 seconds to create a video, or share a clip of a former video. A video in Instagram can be created from Instagram or you can use an already existing video and cut it down to 15 seconds.
Here’s a tip with video - Repurpose your content!
Work smarter not harder. Repurpose what you post to make your content work harder with less effort. Examples are: downloading your Snapchat videos and put it on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, or YouTube.
Getting noticed does not necessarily need a strategy … it needs humanization! Maybe just write an opinion about what is on your mind and see if others connect with it by sharing your views. It can be off the cuff and does not have to be preplanned. Seize the moment and make something of value.
In conclusion, here are the tips to keep in mind to use creative ways to get noticed.
Always add value! Be yourself, be consistent, be present, be MEMORABLE!
- Work with others - Share ideas, work on a blog or download. Expose yourself to another audience by working with others.
- Get in front of an audience - Share your knowledge there and use speaking engagements to your advantage.
- Think creatively about videos - Use Snapchat, Facebook, or Periscope. Reach out to others online by being personal with your videos.
- Brand your images - Using your own tone of voice and adding value.
- Humanize yourself - Use content and conversations to humanize yourself and follow up with others by being personal.
- Share spices that stick - Don’t get stuck decorating your content to only making it look good. Do some research or ask for help if you need to educate yourself on your industry.
