The ABC’s of growing your Instagram

Social media is growing fast and figuring out how to master all the social media sites may be difficult. Instagram is one of the fastest growing social media sites; making it perfect for marketing. Instagram is perfect for marketing because it is quick, mobile, grabs attention, and is currently growing (expected to have 1 billion people using it in three years). Anyone can use Instagram to market their business such as product & service based businesses, e-commerce sites, and people who do not have a website yet. Here are the ABC’s to grow your Instagram for your business.

A-Active Engagement

Active engagement starts by posting once a week or more; find out what works best for you specifically. Also by becoming actively engaged on Instagram make sure to never leave a comment behind and comment on other people’s posts to leave your photo the last in mind. Instagram can use up to 30 hashtags in the description box. By being active on Instagram when you post your photo you should only write 3-5 hashtags in the initial post then comment below more hashtags to optimize your post. You only have 3-6 seconds to grab someone’s attention on Instagram while they are scrolling.

B-Be Bold

Being bold starts with being confident when you post on Instagram. One way to be bold is to have a clear brand representation of your business. Such as what your business stands for with quotes or a clear color of your brand. Post some micro blogs to get people to engage in your blogs from Instagram. You can post up to 2200 characters of description on Instagram. Find your own voice by being clear about the core value of your business, find out what your followers want to see from you, and how do they feel when they land on your Instagram. If you do not know what your followers want from your business, ask them.

C-Creative Thinking

Become creative with each post you make by ensuring that your posts are recognizable by taking them from a unique angle or having a logo in the post. Be sure to find out what works best for you by becoming your own voice. As Sue Zimmerman says “Think of Instagram like a magazine and you are scrolling through your favorite magazine.” Make your Instagram posts stand out from others and be your own magazine page. People want to feel like they are there when they see your visual content.

By being Actively Engaged, Bold, and Creative you will now be able to start attracting more followers, and become an expert at how you present your business using Instagram. Now that you have learned the ABC’s of Instagram now it is time to test them out for yourself! Good luck!
